I grew up in Summit County, a northeastern county. We always kept busy, we were about 30 minutes from the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. If you like hiking, picnicking or just spending time in nature you would love to spend time in the National Park. As we got older, we did a lot of hiking. The National Park gave a hiking stick out to every person who completed their hikes for that year, every year if you hiked so many hikes you received a sticker that you could add to the hiking stick. I was determine to fill my hiking stick up. Well let me tell you that didn’t happen, I got married and moved out of the county. My family kept hiking though. 🙂
My family always spent time out doors. We also loved to go camping. One of our quickest and favorite camp sites was Punderson State Park, it took us about an hour to get there. We did many weekend camp trips. As us kids got older my mom would go and camp for a week and then the family would come on the weekend and meet her. Many of her friends would spend time with her, either sleeping over the night or just coming for the day. When my son was probably between 5-7 we rented a camp site for the day and pitched up a tent, had a camp fire, grilled and just enjoyed the day at the campground.
I apologize for the delay in writing about Ohio, my week has been very busy.
